The summit will include numerous thought-provoking discussions on a variety of economic, demographic and environmental factors shaping the built environment, including population and household changes, infrastructure and transport challenges, climate change concerns, and urbanization. The summit will be a combination of keynote speakers, panel discussions, debates, and workshops aimed at tackling some of the region’s most challenging issues. Attendees represent a broad cross section of disciplines including property developers and owners, investment fund managers, financiers, researchers and senior public officials. 

World Resources Institute is one of the supporting organizations of the summit. Dr. Xiaomei Tan, Director of China Sustainable and Livable Cities Initiative, together with experts from HKU/Shanghai Study Centre, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University, Shenzhen Center for Design, National University of Singapore will participate in the panel discussion with the topic of Mega Cities in China: Challenges and Solutions.

This panel discusses the consequences of the Megacity model for China. What opportunities and challenges are these megacities currently facing? How do governments, planners and architects deal with those challenges? What existing models are they following? And do Chinese megacities develop new urban paradigms that can be used in cities worldwide?
