As we know city is the largest consumer of energy and natural resources and the largest contributor for Greenhouse Gas emission. City is also extensively influenced by the adverse impact of climate change. These put the cities’ development model and the lifestyles in cities at the center to deal with climate change. Accordingly, responding to climate change is a must in China's rapid urbanization which is expected to bring us better and more sustainable urban lives.

China Vanke, World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide fund For Nature(WWF) is co-organizing this side event ‘Low Carbon City Drives New Urban Living’ at China Pavilion during COP 19 at Warsaw. Experts from governments, business, academia, non-profit and media sectors have been invited to discuss about the current challenges and opportunities confronting low carbon development of China cities. There will be four thematic panels to share both Chinese and global best practices, explore the urban development pathway towards low carbon. We expect this event will help both Chinese and global cities to improve their resilience to address climate change.

Mr WANG Shi, the Board Chairman of China Vanke, Dr Andrew Steers, the President & CEO of WRI, and Ms Samantha Smith, Global Climate and Energy Initiative Director, WWF Global, cordially invite you to attend this side event, and discuss about cities low carbon and sustainable development.
